I loved painting this sweet little 8"x 8" oil painting of Maggie the Schnauzer for a special Christmas 2019 surprise.

A very special Christmas gift surprise from husband to wife. Such a privileged to be part of giving the gift of joy.
A little bit about Mookie from his Dad.... When you ask for his personality traits, the first thing to mind is "where do I begin?"... Being a small dog, he is best described as a lap-dog. My wife and I usually have him on one of our laps, Margie more so as when she snacks for herself, she allows him to remain on her lap as he likes to stand guard and attack any crumbs or fallen foods that happen to make it to her chest. Many a fight has happened between them for a dropped potato chip. I on the other hand am not so lenient as he must be on the floor until I am done with MY snack, and he knows it. As with any other dog, he likes to play. He enjoys plush toys with squeakers or with inserts that play snippets of songs. We refer to these as his 'deedles' as the songs played sound simply like 'deedly dee, deedly doo, deedly deedly dee' and so on. Often times he will take one of these toys and just run from living room to the dining room, around the dining table then back to the living room where he starts over. He is just so much fun to watch when he does so.
I was honored to paint Calibers portrait including the thin blue line, in recognition of his duty as a police dog. His 8"x8" painting was given to his Dad (police partner) from his Mom for Christmas this year.
About Caliber from his Mom... Caliber was the sweetest boy - we had two little girls after our first 'baby' and he was so gentle with them - it's a good thing he was a drug dog and not an attack dog - we used to joke our pet bird was more likely to stop intruders than Caliber :) |
