This sweet southern gal is Dixie Lee. She has spent most of her 9 years of life in a shelter in Mississippi. She's now made the journey to Maine to find a family to finally call her own. She may need a little time and patience to adjust to home living but she sure is worth it. She would do best in a new home without cats or small animals. Dixie's foster mom asked her to say a few words about herself: "I am a dog that is really just learning how to be a dog. Life is scary and I am tentative about most things, but when I have a friend to help me I become less scared. Today that friend was my foster mom. She tried to feed me this strange plastic container. I had no interest and ran back to my bed. To my dismay, she followed me and held out the same strange container in-front of my face for a very long time... OK, I'm exaggerating.. it was for only a few short minutes. Since she hasn't been mean to me during my stay, I decided to placate her and lick the tan stuff in the container. IT WAS MAGICAL! I have never had something so delicious before.. well except for that time when my foster mom put venison in my food bowl. This place is cool and I am enjoying getting to experience new things, however I still don't like children very much and I prefer the company of females and other dogs to males. I don't bark much and have no interest in the trash, however I do like shoes. What female doesn't?!! I just like to move them, I would never chew them, they are too expensive."
