Stage One of Mocha Bella's pet portrait
In this stage I use vine charcoal to sketch on the canvas I toned with an acrylic wash of bright pink and blue mixed.
Stage Two of Mocha Bella's pet portrait
In this stage I start to use a light wash of oil paint to define the darkest areas of the painting. The colors I use are a mix of phthalo blue and raw umber thinned out with oil paint thinner.
Stage three of Mocha Bella's pet portrait
In this stage I start to add highlights and define the lighter areas and the eyes. I am using a thicker mix of yellow ocher, burnt sienna and titanium white allowing the paint to blend and mix on the canvas as I build up layers.
Final Stage of Mocha Bella's pet portrait
In the final stage I add details of highlights and texture of fur. Adding the whiskers and background color.
