Stage Two of Mocha Bella's pet portrait In this stage I start to use a light wash of oil paint to define the darkest areas of the painting. The colors I use are a mix of phthalo blue and raw umber thinned out with oil paint thinner. Stage three of Mocha Bella's pet portrait In this stage I start to add highlights and define the lighter areas and the eyes. I am using a thicker mix of yellow ocher, burnt sienna and titanium white allowing the paint to blend and mix on the canvas as I build up layers. Final Stage of Mocha Bella's pet portrait In the final stage I add details of highlights and texture of fur. Adding the whiskers and background color. **If you like this size pet portrait, see more samples at the link for my 8x10 canvas panels here Samples of 8x10 Pet Paintings

In memory of Lou Roy. Lou did not have the time to live into his senior years unfortunately. As always My hope is that his portrait might bring a little healing to the broken hearts he suddenly had to leave behind.
This is an 8"x8" size painting. Click here to see more 8x8 samples
Below is the image I referenced to create Lou's portrait.
Meet sweet Sam and his beloved tennis ball. It was clear to me from his photos provided that Sam loves his tennis ball. After a long day at work, Sam's human Dad would play fetch with him in the back yard. Sam passed away this past March. I was honored to paint a loving memorial of him with his tennis ball for a special fathers day gift.
Below are the two images of Sam that I referenced. I liked the front facing view of him looking at the camera, but I felt he needed his ball, so I painted that in from the other photo.
